Take a subject for a photo. A common household object. A simple form occupying space – its shape delineated by light. – As a famous photographer once said.
I tried to use an egg in an egg cup, but the egg kept falling off with the following results.

I needed a sturdier substitute so I looked for one and found a golf ball in my closet. I don’t know how it got there since I don’t play golf, but there it was, so I put it on a special golf tee.
For short we’ll call it a “T.”
Lighting from the side helps in bringing out the textures in the subject, increasing subject contrast.
Hard light can create dramatic shadows, and may be considered energetic and perhaps mysterious.
Light from below may be seen as menacing.
Front light is relatively flat and dull, or perhaps considered tranquil or even benign.
It all about perspective.
